Fionnuala and Hugh at Lisnavagh House

I always love returning to Lisnavagh House. It’s one of those venues that never fails to deliver, both in terms of atmosphere and the couples I’ve been lucky enough to photograph there. Every wedding has been brilliant in its own unique way, and Fionnuala and Hugh’s was no different. From the moment I arrived I knew it was going to be one of those special days, and it reminded me why shooting at Lisnavagh House is always such a joy.

They both got ready onsite, which added to the relaxed feel of the morning. There’s something lovely about everyone being in the same place, bumping into each other in corridors and sharing little moments before the ceremony. Their ceremony took place in The Brick Barn, which was only my second time shooting there, but it’s definitely one of my favourite spaces in the land. The light in there is something else.

Afterwards, everyone drifted out onto the lawn to enjoy drinks and each other’s company. Fionnuala and Hugh had told me from the start that they, like pretty much all of my couples, didn’t want to spend too long on portraits. They wanted to spend as much time at the drinks reception with their friends and family. So, a quick loop around the grounds was all we needed.

The drinks reception rolled into energy filled outdoor speeches which set the tone for the evening perfectly. And then came dinner, followed by one of the liveliest nights I’ve seen in a long time. I’m not sure what was on the menu but it clearly fuelled some serious dancing and wild antics out on the lawn. Thankfully it all stayed injury free, though it wasn’t for lack of effort!

What a day, what a night. Fionnuala and Hugh put on the most incredible celebration, and I’m so grateful to have been there to capture it all. Lisnavagh House has given me yet another set of brilliant memories and photographs, and I can’t wait for the next time I get to return.
