Sneak Peek – Mags and Enda

It’s been a busy Septemeber – It started with shooting Guns ‘N Roses at the Odyssey in Belfast (thank goodness it was that gig and not the O2 in Dublin), then off to London the next day for another gig but this time purely for pleasure. And between then and now I’ve shot 3 more weddings with another two to do before I head to Singapore on the 21st! – Oh and hopefully shooting MGMT on Thursday in the Olympia if all goes to plan. Then aside from all of that there’s the editing of photos and designing books to be getting on with. Yes – it sure is the busy time of year but I don’t want to forget about the blog so I’ve been trying to post small but regualr updates.
So, here’s another. Mags and Enda got married on Saturday just past. It was a double whammy for me as they had their wedding ceremony in Rathfeigh and reception in Slane Castle – both of which are in my top 5 places to shoot. When shooting at Slane the obvious backdrop is the castle itself, but just a couple of minutes walk from the castle are old derelict buildings. I think maybe old staff quarters or something but I’m not 100% sure on that one. Either way, they’re old and empty and in my opinion, quite beautiful in their own way. There’s something about those large green iron doors on that old stonework that just works for me. Half the windows have missing panes and weeds are sprouting up everywhere. When I was taking the shots below and asking each of them to give me a bit of attitude, Enda the groom was saying to his party “It’s urban decay guys – work it!”. He was right.
