Shooting with an iPhone

Like practically all iphone users, I love my iphone and for me the best thing about it has to be the camera. I recently switched to the iphone 4 and I’m amazed at the clarity of the images it can take. Okay, it’s no pro camera but for a point and shoot it’s not at all bad. The way you can expose the images based on where you press on the screen is genius and then of course there’s all the photo apps to allow you to post process your shots to pretty ridiculous levels.
Yesterday Dee and I went to Dun Laoghaire for the day as there was a vintage fair on in The Marie Hotel but after we went for a little walk along the pier and inevitably the iphone was soon out of my pocket and taking up the roll as my camera for the day. I could not get over the colour of the sky and gorgeous calm waters. Normally I’ll process the images in one of the many iphone apps available like CrossProcess, PictureShow or Instagram but yesterday I thought I’d just shoot them and then process them at home on Lightroom and here’s what I ended up with.

Take a look at http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuppo_tea/sets/72157623279185079/ . A photo a day on the iphone, for a year… all post processing done on the iphone.

Use my Samsung GalaxyS regularly to update facebook and to send shots to friends. I am doing a series of phone shots about growing up in Galway all being shot on my phone. While it’s not a camera and does not have the quality of a digital slr, the phone is a great tool for social networking. Nicely done David.

Ben – Those 365 projects have been around for quite a while now – using the iphone to do is a nice easy way of going about it
Joe – Thanks for your comments. Are you going to be sharing your Galway shots anywhere? I’d love to see them. Sounds like a great idea!
