Suzanne and Barry at Garryvoe Hotel

On one of my recent wedding posts I received this lovely comment – “Hey Dave, love your wedding highlights! Very wonder years. You’re always trying fun new stuff, can’t wait to hang out with you for the day in a couple of weeks time in Cork. Suzanne”.
Well that day of ‘hanging’ out happened a couple of weeks back when I got to shoot the lovely wedding of Suzanne and Barry. They had a lovely civil ceremony in the Garryvoe Hotel on Ballycotton Bay, Cork. Both Suzanne and Barry were getting ready in the hotel which I always love as it means I can quickly go between the bride and the groom to capture both sides of the action. It’s not all about the bride you know (who am I kidding?).
As I arrived that morning Suzanne had just been delivered a box of presents from Barry. It was filled with sweets, a book that she’d had her eye on and a “Fancy Paper Collector” t-shirt. Her love of fancy paper finally recognised. Suzanne was in such good form that morning with not a bother on her. Never have I witnessed a bride put away quite so many sandwiches (followed by apple pie) on the morning of a wedding. Where she put is beyond me as she looked amazing in her Spanish style dress complete with ruffles. She looked like quite the Senorita! A couple of castanets and the look would have been complete
The ceremony was relaxed and friendly with lots of lovely readings from close friends and family. I thought it was lovely too how she had both her dad and mum walk her up the aisle (after the bridesmaids and cute little flower girls of course – check out the boots! I’ve been told they’ll need to be surgically removed – she loves her boots. Bless.)
After the ceremony we went over to the beach for a short portrait session were the tide was fast approaching. Suzanne donned a pair of ultra cool leopard print wellies so she was safe – the rest of us had to literally run for the rocks but everyone managed to stay ‘fairly’ dry. Oh and how cool are Barry and Suzanne’s sunglasses? If you look closely you can see some weirdo with a camera in their face.
Suzanne and Barry made my day so incredibly easy. They both have ridiculously infectious smiles that never fail to make you smile along with them. It’s obvious that they’re truly in love and enjoyed every moment of their day. In the end I think it was me who really enjoyed hanging out with them for the day – congratulations to you both!

Lovely pics guys. Strangely it’s the one of the two of ye on the beach Not smiling which made me laugh. I don’t know if that’s just my sense of humour or what, but I think it’s because that photo looks the most un-natural as ye were smiling all day.
P.S. The boots were eventually removed from the flower girl and retired from service – by herself.

I can’t stop smiling after looking through them all and reliving the Best Day Ever. You were so professional, really unobtrusive, and good fun to hang out with too! You make us look great. Thanks for being our photographer (and buttonhole advisor and driver!) Suz

Dave, what fantastic photos! I barely noticed you there on the day. It’s great to see all the moments you captured “on film”. Thank you so much.

Brilliant! thanks again Dave. Love the moody black&white landscape on the beach and I know Suzanne already loves the “serious” posed one above it. Can’t wait to see them all!
