Niamh and Charles at Howth Yacht Club

Here’s a wedding from June – You remember June. It was that month when the sun showed up and did what it was supposed to do, rather than do what it did for the following 3 months – go on strike.
Nimah and Charles got married on the first weekend of the month in Howth, Co. Dublin. The reception was going to be held in the Howth Yacht club which I think considering it’s huge outdoor reception with perfect views of Howth, it was perfect for a day like this.
Charles got ready in the Marine Hotel with all of his mates who had travelled over from France, while Niamh got prepared in the Deerpark Hotel just a few minutes away with her girlfriends.
When I was in the ceremony there was one thing I noticed – The French love their cameras! As one side of the church (Niamh’s side…) where quite happy to remain seated and just watch proceeding the other side (Charles’ side…) were up and snapping away – practially leaning on each other as they all vied for position. At this rate, I’ll eventually not be needed!
As we came out of the church the sun was brighter and hotter than ever so we made the most of of it by hitting the pier for some bridal party shots before just a short walk to the reception. I tell you what, Charles and Niamh are one patient couple because as I remember it, I kept on seeing more and more opportunities for photos and saying to them “Umm guys, I just have one more idea… how about I make you both look really small on the horizon… it’ll be cute.. “. They’d shrug, probably thinking I was mad and then cheerily say “Okay”.
I have two other memories from this day that stood out as being something that was, how do I say it…. bonkers. First of all was during the speeches, the majority of the guys, namely the French guys, donned panda bear masks and then sang some rowdy song in French while doing the conga through the crowd. I just wish my command of the French language expanded further beyond the ability to tell you my name so that I could share with you just what on earth the song was all about.
The other thing that was just a tad bonkers was the dancing. Never before or since have I seen such a wild bunch. Those French know how to move! And I mean seriously move. I’m not talking just good dancing here, I’m talking flinging and flipping girls over their shoulders like bags of potatoes. I could have stood and watched it all night but I thought it best to pack up and head home incase I got a boot in the mouth from a flying stiletto!
Some night, some wedding. Thanks again to Niamh and Charles for having me photograph their day as it really was one to remember!
