Anne and Emmet at Ballymaloe Country House

Hello world. It’s been a while. Every year around this time I find that the frequency of my blog posts radically declines. It’s not for a lack of weddings to post I can assure you. I have so many to bring you so it’s just a matter of getting on with it.
While Anne and Emmet’s wedding below may look like a beautiful summers day, it’s actually from way back in February! It might as well have been summer though. The sun shone brightly that day in County Cork and Youghal was a gorgeous place to be.
Anne got ready in her parents home which was situated in a stunning location. Looking across the bay that morning you’d have sworn you were somewhere foreign. If I lived in that house I’d spend far too long just sitting by the window watching the world go by. Lovely part of the world.
Apart from the view, the house was a great place to be that morning. There was plenty of activity with pots of tea, fry’s on the go and relatives calling on skype from Australia. Mean while Emmet and co were down in Anne’s father’s pub, The Nook, having a quick pint before kick-off ring on…
Anne looked stunning in her vintage style lace dress. There was the usual oh’s and ah’s from everyone around her but you know when a bride feels happy about her dress when you catch her outside playing with her shadow on the ground as the light shone through it.
After the ceremony it was off to the wonderful Ballymaloe County House. House of the famous Allen dynasty. What a setup! Aside from the house itself they have converted a 17th century farmhouse building into what is now called the Grain Store. It’s just amazing inside and a perfect room for a photographer as there is a 360degree balcony that overlooks the floor below. Perfect for those candid moments.
It was really fun looking back through these photos as I was putting this blog post together. It reminds me of what really was a lovely day to photograph. Everything was perfect, the weather, the scenery, the location and the people. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming from start to finish. A big, big thank you to Anne and Emmet for allowing me to share their day with you and a massive apology for bringing it to you so late – maybe someday I’ll catch up with my blog posts.. Doubt it.
