Michelle and Brendan at Ballymagarvey Village

I first met Michelle and Brendan when they came to our house in Kilkenny a couple of months ago to talk about their big day. I loved that they both has so much enthusiasm and Michelle was practically glowing with the prospect of being a bride. We shared a mutual love for Ballymagarvey Village and excitedly talked about the different areas of the grounds we could use for photographs. We couldn’t wait for the the big day!
It’s was an absolutely beautiful morning when I arrived at Ballymagarvey. The skies were blue and the the clouds were high in the sky. Perfect conditions. Inside the house Michelle was getting seen to by Rhona Cullinan on makeup and Susan Peggs on hair. Together they make a fab team and Michelle looked amazing. It’s such a great venue to get ready in as you have complete rein of the house – it feels like you’re at a very wealthy relatives. Very posh altogether.
The oohs and ahhs echoed around the room as bedroom door opened and Michelle appeared looking so glamourous in her sleek and very elegant wedding dress. She looked a million dollars as they say. She really did.
The church was the lovely St Martin’s Church in Culmullen, as I arrived the boys stood waiting in the doorway looking smart in their tux’s for this black tie affair. I told you it was posh. The ceremony was lovely and Michelle and Brendan were constantly exchanging glances across to each other. Their chairs separated by the aisle you could see that they were just dying to be sitting right next to each other.
When we came out the church the sun was still shining brightly, but there was clouds in the distance. Big, black, low clouds that spelled trouble. I feared the worst. Those conversations from our afternoon at my kitchen table came rushing back to me. “We can do shots up here and oh, oh the lake would be lovely too!”. Had we jinxed ourselves? Well, when we arrived back to Ballymagarvey the heavens opened and we didn’t just get rain, we got hail! Solid hail for a good 10 minutes which soaked the place. Was Michelle bothered? Not at all. We managed to source a pair of very cute wellies and a brolly from Ballymagarvey and we were good to go. We got all the shots we wanted and more. It was perfect and what made it so much easier was Michelle and Brendan’s enthusiasm to just grasp every moment they had and their no fuss attitude. Perfect.
And that really sums up the pair of them. All day everything was relaxed and easy going. I was made so welcome from the moment I arrived and shooting their day was such a breeze. Michelle to me looked like the picture of calm and even when there was a slight dress malfunction that morning she never got flustered or panicked. The only indication that got all day that she may have been nervous is when she told me later in the afternoon “I was feeling a little nervous in the church but I looked over and you gave me a reassuring wink and that made me feel better”. Glad I could help! haha
Thanks again to Michelle and Brendan for having me there and I hope you enjoy this story of their day. It’s was a pleasure.

Thanks Anita. The church is St Martin’s Church in Culmullen. Really lovely. Probably a bit bigger than Rathfeigh and a bit further away from Ballymagarvey than Rathfeigh.
