Magic is Magic!

One of the very first things I did this evening when I arrived home after today’s wedding was to offload the memory cards and have a look back at a few shots in particular.

The reason – to see if I could somehow, using my photographic evidence, figure how how on earth Jack Wise was able to trick us all today. Jack Wise is a Dublin based magician who was hired to entertain the crowd at the drinks reception. Hats off (with rabbits inside), he was incredible. I followed him around from table to table to capture peoples reactions, which were a pretty even mixture of ‘hands over open mouths with wide eyes’ to ‘jaws hitting the floor’. I was usually in the latter category. Just dumbfounded in all honesty.

Anyway – I took a ton of photographs (because that’s my job) and also some video (so that I could later slow it down and figure out how he does it and then take my very own magic show on the road). After reviewing the evidence to CSI levels, I can conclude – I have no idea how on earth he does it.

Here’s a shot from just after he’d turned my coffee cup upside down, removed a small red ball, then two small red balls. That wasn’t enough so he put the cup down again and said who knows what’ll turn up – you guessed it… A flipping turnip appeared. He then turns to a fella who was in the dumbfounded category and said “That not enough for you? what do you want? A basketball?”……
