As I arrived at The Academy around 8:30 the crowd (of mainly young girls) was already going mad. The R&B trio Encore were on stage and by the sounds of things the crowd loved them. They certainly whipped the fans up into a frenzy because from the time they left the stage until Jessie J appeared around half an hour later they hardly stopped chanting and screaming her name. Oh to be young…

A black curtain hung across the front of the stage to shine a silhouette of Jessie J to mark her entrance. I was stood directly down the side of the stage and could see both Jessie J and the crowd. I was an interesting perspective so I snapped a quick one and then we were ushered into the pit as the curtain dropped to reveal Jessie J and her band.

It was a cracker of a concert.I’m not a fan by heart but after tonight gig I definitely left with serious admiration for the girl. She has some set of lungs and knows how to use them. Not only can she sing she’s a great performer too. I remember a while back shooting the Kings of Leon in the O2 and thinking to myself that they could do a bit more than just stand still behind their mic stands. Well, they could learn a lesson from this girl. She works the whole stage, singing right down to the crowd, waving, making faces and talking to them (on an individual level) between songs. I love it when artists really make it worth the punters money.

After the usual 3 songs where we’re allowed to shoot from the pit I made my way upstairs to see if I could take a few more. I wanted to get some more of the fans too so see if you can spot yourself!
