Happy Christmas Everyone

Right now, I’m supposed to be back home for Christmas. There’s an empty spot on my parents couch where my bum should be. I’m supposed to be sitting there, getting brought tea and biscuits by my mum. A tin of Roses should sit by my side, half filled with sweets, the other half with wrappers to make the hunt of the next sweet exactly that, a hunt. That’s what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s what was planned. However, like a lot of people, the snow has rudely interrupted those plans. Instead, I sit here in Dublin in front of my computer writing this. There’s no tin of Roses. There’s not even any tea and biscuits (well there is but my mum isn’t bringing them to me so what’s the point – I’m trying to paint a picture here…)
I could be down about it. Worried about the fact that what is normally a 3 hour drive will probably take twice that time and be a butt clenchingly nervewracking journey into the bargin. At times like this is pretty easy to get annoyed by the snow. But come on, if it is snowing near you (and if you’re in Ireland, it most probably is) then just take a moment to look outside and take in the view. It is quite beautiful. Aside from this year, and a week or so last year, we don’t get it very often, so let’s just try and cheer up and enjoy it.
Last night, myself and my housemate Ian took a trip on the Luas to George’s Dock to have a little dander around the Christmas Market. It was our first time there this year and it was empty – another reason to be thankful of the snow – it keeps the crowds away! I brought my little camera with me and decided to take some video along the way.
When we got back quite a bit of snow had fallen. I’ve only built one snowman this year and when fresh snow has fallen and you have have no other plans, then there’s no excuse. It’s good exercise and a lot of fun. For those of you who know me, it’ll come as no surprise that I time-lapsed the build and made a video out of that too.
This will probably be my last post before Christmas so I’d like to thank everyone I’ve worked with this year, congratulations to all my newlyweds and I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.
Here are the videos and a couple of pictures of Timmy Tomato Eyes. Isn’t he handsome? Enjoy. Dave.
