Declan and Edel at Horetown House

Boy do I have some cracking weddings in store for you folks. To begin with I’m going back to September last year for the gorgeous wedding of Declan and Edel in the totally picturesque Horetown House in County Wexford. For any of you wedding blog stalkers you may regonise this wedding from Rock My Wedding. It was posted on there a few weeks back and my goodness did this wedding get some serious feedback. Girls are all over Edel’s style personal touches. Even Declan’s sister’s green dress was quite a talking point – although I’m not sure Edel had anything to do with that
The level of detail that Declan and Edel went to made for one seriously pretty day. Things to look out for. Their gorgeous handmade invites, the birdcage veil and vintage brooch, the wedding bouquet that Edel and her friend Jenny made! The table plan based on the places they’d been together and little trivia games for each table. As for the table settings this was done by Kate the wedding planner at Horetown House who organised Cath Kidston bunting and table centres and suggested using teacups for vases with flowers from the gardens. Amazing.
This was the first time I’d shot at Horetown House and I can honestly say I can’t wait to go back. Everything about the place is gorgeous and really lends itself so well to small intimate weddings. Declan and Edel had the lovely idea of only having the closest friends and family at the ceremony and then the rest of the guests arrived during the afternoon reception. This made the ceremony so personal and wonderful to be a part of.
After the ceremony the guests had the entire run of the house to relax and mingle. Out on the lawn everyone tried their had at spot of horseshoe pitching and I found myself to be quite the natural, initially. I really should have quit when I was ahead… any natural ability soon turned out to be a complete fluke…
As the day wore on more and more guests arrived until they had enough to fill the marquee and get on with listening to the utterly hilarious speeches (especially Tom’s, the best man, who had everyone in hysterics and cringing all at the same time. Superb). The food was informal but super tasty – home made burgers and chips served in lovely little cones. So untypical of usual wedding fare and everyone loved it!
Then it was up to The Poor Boys to keep everyone on the dance floor for the rest of the night and by the time I packed up for the day they were doing a pretty good job of it. This crowd were up for a party!
Thanks again to Declan and Edel for letting me share this gorgeous wedding with you all. I’ve put supplier details at the bottom of the post.
