Sneak Peek – Fan-Tache-Tic!

Today, I done something I’ve never done before at a wedding. I got people to blatantly pose. Normally I’m all about the candid approach. Catching people unawares mid-laugh or while gazing lovingly into each others eyes. Today though was a different story. Today was all about the ‘tache’.
There seems to be a little trend at the moment of what I can only describe as ‘the moustache on a stick’ pose. I’ve seen it quite a bit, mainly on American photographers sites and it’s complety stupid and yet totally brilliant. I had looked everywhere to try and buy them on online but with no real success. So – I thought I’d make my own. A trip to town for some black card, kebab skewers and a bit of glue and a few hours later I had 10 moustache’s on sticks ready to take to todays wedding.
As I met Dave (the groom) and Alan (the bestman) in Tinakilly house this morning I felt a slight sense of embarrassment as I said “I have a little thing in the car – it may give you a laugh”. Well, there really was no need for me to have worried. They loved them and got straight into character as posh English gentry. It was hilarious!
Surely it would get boring eventually… Nope! Everyone loved them, especially little Josh (5) and Ben (8?). Ben has a future ahead of him as a creative director. He was gathering people up, telling them how to pose and with which moustache (Imperial or handlebars). He has quite the eye for a photo. After we had practically the entire wedding party covered and with no fresh ‘victims’ nearby, he turned to me and said “What about you?”. I tell you what – he’s quite the photographer too….

Brilliant, brilliant day.
Thanks to everyone for being such a good sport and feeling the love for the ‘tache’ and a big congratulations to Cindy and Dave!
Dave.

Fantastic day! I’ve never seen the like before – with the moustache props and all, but it was a massive success from where we were standing (posing… laughing). Great pictures.

Hi Kay, thanks for that. It really was a classic wasn’t it! Those moustaches went down a storm – I made 10 and came home with none!

Good job that man! And I noticed that you were pretty adept at not being spotted taking the candid shots too… look forward to seeing them in the future!
