Keeping it simple

After much humming and haaing I decided that the Tiltviewer had to go. Some people liked it, others, not so much. The biggest problem was that you couldn’t look at the picture straight on without the mouse pointer being in the middle of the screen which is hardly ideal when trying to look at a photograph.

So, I gave it the chop and brought back the old reliable. The Simpleviewer. I’m now wondering why I ever got rid of it in the first place. I was obviously seduced by the whoosh sounds that the Tiltviewer made as the pictures floated into the place – however, don’t let this stop you from making your own sound effects.

Oh, I’ve also added a new slideshow – All Photographs. If you want to browse every single photo on the site but don’t want to have to switch between categories then this is for you. I’ve tried to sort them in order of age – newest first.

Night Night..

It’s been a long time coming but over the past couple of weeks we’ve been blessed with lovely weather. And not the type of weather that blasts you with heat in the afternoons and then has people clambering for the hills in the evenings to avoid the floods. No, it’s all been fairly decent right around the clock. So I’ve tried to make the most of the nice evenings to get some night photography in.

Summer has arrived!

Well, what a day. It was an absolute scorcher! The car thermometer read 24 degrees (surely not?) and the air-con had to be switched to the icicle setting.

I took a drive to Malahide, along with the rest of Dublin who had exactly the same idea, with camera and tripod in tow. I came across a process on the web recently in which you take a 360 degree panorama shot and using some computer wizardry you can turn your shots into a little mini globe. I thought the entrance to Malahide Castle might be the perfect place as the surrounding area is beautiful.

So here it is… the finished article. I highly recommend opening the larger version if the image using the link at the bottom of the slideshow.

The other shots where taken on the way home. The south side of the docks looked spectacular as they caught the colour of the setting sun.
