I took a drive to Drogheda late last night to get a shot I’ve been wanting to take for a long, long time. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve driven over the Boyne Bridge at Drogheda and wished I had my camera with me. Finally though, with the weather just right I packed the camera, tripod and all important flask of coffee in the car and set off for some night shooting.
I wanted to get some shots of the bridge that I haven’t really seen before. That ruled out any shots from the motorway, the N51 roundabout or from any of the nearby housing estates. So instead I drove to the road that runs right underneath the bridge. I think it’s called the Glen Road (isn’t named on google maps or on my sat nav). It was the perfect spot.
I spent about half an hour there trying different exposures and lenses and came away very happy with the results.
As the bridge is lit so beautifully in glowing pinks and blues I have included both the colour and black and white conversions in the slideshow.
