For a long time now I’ve been following lots of other peoples brilliant photo blogs. Claire from GingerPixel, Ryan from Glassey Alley, Christina from Brosnan Photographic, Dannie from Porchfield and a whole bunch of others who I’ll add to this post when I have a little more time later.
Anyway – through twitter I heard that all of these people and more would be meeting in Trim to go on a Photowalk. They’re organised through Photowalk.ie and everyone is welcome regardless of skill level or camera size. The more the merrier as the saying goes. I thought I’d give it a go and use it as a great opportunity to meet plenty of like minded nerds folk.
Photographers just love those horsies
We all met up in the Trim Castle carpark and after brief introductions that closely resembled an alcoholics anonymous round table, it was off to the castle. Lovely castle it is too but I tell you what, it was absolutely freezing! A good walk was what was needed, after all we were here for a photowalk. So Dannie, who’s from Trim lead us along the Boyne, through Porchfield (where his site gets its name) and down to the old ruins of Newtown. As light began to fade and the temp dipped further it wasn’t long before we all had one thing on our minds. Brogans.
The less said about what happened next, the better.

Big thanks to Ryan, Dannie and Stephen for organising a super day.
Now then.. all those fab photographers! Check them out!

Great shots Dave. You enjoyed the day and the night. Believe you missed breakfast….
Thanks Denis. haha I did indeed… I had my own breakfast much later… actually it was more of a lunch
I love your little story! So descriptive. Makes me feel a bit useless at writing. Oh well. Love the image above (especially cuz I’m in it! haha just kidding). No, really love your perception. Great to meet you Dave!
Thanks Christina
Ahh I don’t know know about the writing side.. sometimes I tend to think I waffle on a bit – but hey, we’re all here for the photos! Great to meet you too, can’t wait to do it all over again
nice “babbel” written and even nicer shots taken. as i seemed to be in different spots all the time it’s super to see things from your point of view. great meeting you, however short it was.
Thanks Aafke! Was great to meet you too and loved your shots on pix.ie – especially the black and white on of the rolling hill and church steeple
if i had known you looked at them, i would have thanked you for that.
Your shots are amazing.. I had a great day but feel I didn’t try as hard as I should have to get any different photos.. I’m from Trim & it being me first photowalk was more interested in seeing what it was all about & putting faces to names…
Thanks Susie! yeah I know what you mean. I spent the first while just chatting and then thought to myself… ‘mmm, I guess I better start taking some photos’
Thanks again for the comments
