Another little photowalk..

I went for another little stroll around the city with my camera today – but rather just use my 50mm lens like the last time, I thought to myself that what’s the point in having this big bag of lenses if I don’t use them?
So today’s shots, while there isn’t a lot, are taken with a mixture of the 50mm, the 12-24mm wide angle and my lovely 24mm tilt shift.
I tried to incorporate more people today. It’s tricky. Waiting for the right moment or the right kind of person to fill the screen. Take the shot below for example. I visualised the shot before I took it. I wanted either a girl to stop and stare in the window, practically melting onto the pavement with lust for the bag behind the glass or for someone with a bit of style or glamour about them who just wasn’t interested. I didn’t have to wait to long and I got the shot I wanted.
“That’s not a bag – this is a bag” – this girl sticks it to Louis.
I took a walk down my favourite little laneway today (Palace Street) to see if I could find anything as interesting as the last time. It didn’t disappoint. Two things caught my eye. One was a pair of sneakers tided together and thrown over a telegraph wire. Some people my know that this is a sign that drugs are available in the area (at least that’s what I’ve heard) – the difference with these shoes though is that their wooden imitations of Converse trainers. The other little thing I noticed was a page of A4 paper glued to a wall asking the simple question – “Are you happy with your relationship?”. Some of the answers are quite amusing. Who on earth is carrying these pens to leave comments?
There was another shot I was delighted to get today – the Spire with my tilt shift. I’ve wanted to get it for a while now as I was pretty sure that the lens would lend itself well to that kind of image. What it does is straightens out the distortion to make everything look lovely and straight, rather than getting that ‘convergence of parallel lines’ look. (I got that last bit from Wikipedia…. but you’ll know what I mean when you see the first image from the slideshow which was taken with the wide angle lens)
See..

Great caption! I’d be the one that stares in the window drooling over a gorgeous handbag I couldn’t possibly afford. But that wouldn’t have made such a great caption or photo. Glad you waited to get the shot you wanted. Really must carry my camera with me more often. Never know what you’re gonna see!
