A very short photowalk – London (and Eels!)

I went to London on Wednesday for just the one day. I was going over to see Eels (my favourite band in the world) play at the Brixton Academy. My flight was scheduled to touch down around lunchtime and I knew I’d have a few hours to kill before the gig later in the evening. So I thought I’d bring my camera and take a bit of a stroll around London. The stroll was a lot shorter than expected as I was soon called to meet my sister-in-law who was going to be coming with my brother and me to see Eels.

So, I didn’t take much. However, there is one shot that I totally love – if I’m allowed to say that.
Between the London Eye and Southbank there is a load of street performers. Most of them surrounded by huge crowds or at least doing their best to gather such. There was one guy though, dressed as comic icon Charlie Chaplin, who after finishing his act and with his crowd now dispersed took a look in his silver saucepan which he’d used to collect his takings. He kept his head down and closed his eyes as if to pray. Maybe a prayer of thanks or a prayer for more takings – either way for that brief moment he cut a very lonely figure.

Anyway – here’s the shots. And by the way, Eels were just spectacular (video at the bottom of the post)

Strangest name for a hairdressers….

I couldn’t resist posting one video of Eels from the night. I can’t take credit for the recording.
