Bill and Sarah

Time for another real wedding. Something with less snow this time.

Bill and Sarah got married on the 1st October. It was a glorious day. Lovely blue skies, not many clouds and while it was a little nippy, it was nothing to what we’re experiencing now. A nice crisp day really.
When I arrived at Sarah’s house that morning I was given a lovely warm welcome with a big mug of coffee (served in a Canon cup – they know me too well) and some cake and biscuits. It’s the perks of the job, what can I say.

The house was a hive of activity. Dad was on tea making and also looking after ribbons for cars. Mum was scurrying about doing odd jobs and trying not to get infront of my camera lens. Sarah’s sister, Anne-Marie was making sure that everything was going to plan – complete with clipboard and checklist. That what I can organised.

Sarah was calm as can be. Just happy to be sitting there, looking out the window on a gorgeous morning as she was getting her makeup done by Aoife from The Bridal Lounge.

When I stopped over with Bill things were just as laid back. Even with the slight worry that no-one could remember how to do the neck ties – Bill was the one keeping calm through it all “It’s grand everyone, we’ll just stop off at Blacktie and they’ll sort it”.

They had a lovely ceremony at Holy Cross Dundrum – a great big church which is perfect for wedding photographers as there is plenty of room to manoeuvre without getting in the way – not to mention the fact that’s it’s a pretty impressive building with it’s big high ceilings and stain glass windows.

Afterwards it was off to St Helen’s Hotel in Stillorgan. I’ve shot there a few times now and love going back there. It’s gorgeous. The light was just perfect as Sarah and Bill took a little walk in the gardens before joining their guests for the rest of the party. I say party because it really was like a big party. So much laughing and joking, especially during the speeches which had everyone is stitches and Bill blushing like I’ve never seen anyone blush before.

As soon as the band kicked off the floor was filled in an instant. In fact fair play to Pink Champagne (the band) because I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a floor fill as quick.

Big thanks to Bill and Sarah for a wonderful day. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to meet up with you again. Dave.
