Wicklow. Dead. Beautiful.

Hiking in the Wicklow mountains. It has it all. Rough terrarin, marshy bog land, gravel pathways, amazing scenery, beautiful plantlife, the gnawed on carcass’s of dead animals, waterfalls, blue sk…. hold on… back up… carcasses?

Yes. That’s right! While out on a leisurely walk up Lugnaquilla last Sunday I came across this!

“ohh deer me…. “

Pretty grim. I’m glad to say it was the only quite horrible thing we came across. The rest of the day was pretty spectacular. That Sunday we just had the most incredible weather. Endless blue skies in all directions and with just a slight haze at the top of Lugnaquilla it was possible to see for miles around. I’m always blown away when it comes to the Wicklow mountains. They may not be the tallest, steepest or toughest to climb in Ireland but it’s incredible to think that after a short drive from Dublin you soon have your hiking boots on and will be heading toward some peak in the distance (and in my case usually without a map, compass or any real idea as to how to get there!).

I didn’t have my big camera with me but brought my trusty Lumix along and took what I could. To see the rest of the not-so gory images, click here.
